Cup of Excellence Award, 2024! An origin with an incongruous mix of African acidity and a sweetness to the cup reminiscent of our Bukonzo Dream offering. And we have gone for another Natural process coffee. You simply can’t beat a coffee from this region/ country – after all, it was the start of the entire coffee story ...

Where is it from? Molla is a natural coffee producing village in the highlands of Arbegona - which is a part of the East Sidama zone bordering Bona Zuria in the south, Bursa in the southwest. Arbegona is also the name of the largest town in the area and Molla coffee is sourced from an elevation above 1080 MASL, from the areas surrounded by natural vegetation.

The coffee is sourced from small farmers who have small plots of lands ranging from 0.5 to 3 hectares organically maintained land frequently cultivate amid native forests. There are a number of cultivars in the region, including some native landrace choices, but the 74158 varietal is the most prevalent.

This 2024 crop is complex and is becoming a favourite down at the roastery for it’s complexity on filter and its buttery mouth feel on espresso. We hope you like this very special microlot, and only our second jaunt into Ethiopia, and our fourth natural process of the last 12 months.
