El Salvador (finca el Portezuelo)

As we approach our anniversary, we decided to find this coffee again, one of the very first we roasted back in 2016! A very popular coffee in our range until around the time of the pandemic - and now its back, baby! But for a short time only....

The Portezuelo farm has produced a beautifully smooth coffee once again with a full body – especially when drank as a straight espresso or americano, giving a hint of orange truffle and honey. The profile is full of nuttiness and rich caramel when paired with milk or milk alternatives. There is also a hint of orange biscuit when drank on filter, and the cup finishes with a medium, syrupy acidity. A delightful omni-roast in short.

Farm: Not too far away from the Apaneca Ilamatepec volcanic mountain range and running through the Santa Ana and Sonsonate departments in the West, this is where many of the Cup of Excellence producing farms in the country are located. This is because of the homogeneity of the ripeness of the cherries, allowing for precise control and processing. The importance of selective picking and attention to detail have very much become a hallmark of the culture and success of the farm.

Roaster tip: Try this one as an Oat flat white, giving a rich, nutty caramel truffle feel to the cup!
